So, here are some pictures from Piper's room. We still have some things in the works. I am planning on covering the stool to the vanity table in a fabric. I've got to paint letters that spell PIPER and get some pretty ribbon to hang them and use the same ribbon to tie back the curtains.
But other than that I think the room is about done so here are some of the pictures so far.
Big props to Mike this weekend for being a trooper. He never complains when I come up with requests that require him to be handy granted he may give me the "WTF Erin" look but he always is able to use his genius and do whatever crazy idea I have in my head. Plus I always tell him it is a learning experience! This room definitely would not have been done if it wasn't for his hard work. Love you!!!!!!
First, the chandelier, this was my baby. I knew from the moment that we where going to do a big girl "princess" room that it had to have a chandelier. But, after I looked I realized that a cute little girl chandelier was not in our budget. Even 3 light, simple ones at Lowes where $100. I'm not going to even say how much the size I wanted was.
So, off to Habitat for Humanity I went. I purchased a 10 light chandelier for $20. It was the ugly gold/bronze color, but that is nothing that a can of white spray paint can't fix. As redneck as it may be, spray paint is my friend! It can transform an ugly duckling to a swan in a matter of minutes. Then, I went to Hobby Lobby and purchased the beads. After a little fishing wire and super glue.... Voila!

I must admit that I'm very proud of it. And the total cost to me was about $60
Next, a scoured Craigslist for cute things and found this vanity table and stool set for $100. I added a new coat of paint and it was good as new. I've just got to cover the seat in fabric and it will be finished.

Than, my grand idea was to have a cornice box. This is where Mike aka "Bob Vila" comes in. We bought the moulding at SouthEastern Salvage for $12. The whole box cost about $30, and then we where able to use the curtains from her old room. I just need to get some pretty ribbon to make tie backs.

I think it turned out BEAUTIFUL!
The stripes on the wall was another one of the eye rolling moments I got from Mike. But thank God that my husband is slightly anal retentive when it comes to stuff like that because they turned out perfect and I think really help make the room. (He informed me after this paint project that I better not even think about a paint technique for the babies room... so I guess a cute elephant mural to match the bedding is out????)

The bed I originally found was at Sprints. I got the lady to quote me a price.... $800.... yea right, not for a kids bed. I then asked her if it would be going on sale anytime soon because Sprints usually has great sales. That's when she told me that they pretty constantly run those beds 40% off, which would still make the bed ALOT more than I wanted to spend but I little easier to swallow. I asked her when they would be on sale and that's when she told me she had quoted me the sale price. WTF!!!!!!!
So, off we went to FMO (Furniture Merchandise Outlet) where I found the exact same looking bed for $380. That's what I'm talking about!!!!
After another trip to Hobby Lobby and Home Goods for 50% off accessories the room is about done. I'm really happy with the way that everything turned out and Piper LOVES it which makes it all worth wild.
Now for a month break and than onto decorating the baby boy's room! (insert loud groan from Mike)
