When I started this blog, I wanted to mainly just focus on stories of the kids. But, now that I have started school, I want to make this an online journal of the process too. I figure that once I'm a super successful nurse ; ) it will be neat for me to look back on what was going through my mind when I was suffering through school.
So far we've been studying vital signs and the nursing process, and I'm really enjoying class!
If you know the type of student I was at college my first go around, you will find the previous statement funny..... because back then I didn't ever go to class.... I was enrolled in classes, but devoted
Anyway, so far the main thing that I am having to get used to is just the fact of "laying hands on people."
In normal day to day life, I am a big "personal space" person. I really try to respect people's "personal space" and not intrude. So, just the simple mechanics of doing vital signs and physical assessments on people is going to take some getting used to.
Soon, we should find out our clinical experience placement. Our first round of clinicals is "long term care" aka nursing homes. Can't say that I super excited about that, because I'm not a big fan of nursing homes. But, I'm hoping that I'll get some sweet patient that is just excited to have some company, and will tolerate me fumbling around trying to get all the vitals and physical assessments that I need.
So, since I should actually be reading about writing care plans.... but instead, I'm blogging, let me end this post here.................
Wish me luck!
