"Disney on Ice" a.k.a. squeezing every penny possible out of Mommy and Daddy

I got an offer through work for discounted "Disney on Ice- Toy Story" tickets. Naturally, I jumped at the offer because Piper is a HUGE fan of Toy Story. She has alot of the toys from the movie. Her favorite is "Jessie" and she even has an outfit to match the doll.

So, Piper was VERY excited about going to see the "real" characters. I think on the drive to Nashville she asked roughly 1 million times if we were "at Toy Story yet", and insisted on holding onto her own ticket.

I must admit that I was also pretty excited about our adventure. It's always fun to see your children get soooo excited about something. Plus, we don't get much family time together anymore so it was good for all of us.

Anyway, we walked into the venue and it was a full on "Toy Story" system overload... toys, candy, photo ops, you get the picture. I thought Piper was just going to spontaneously combust from excitement.

The first thing we had to do was get a picture with Jessie....

This picture set me back $14. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I could have bought 3 disposable camera's for that price but, what the heck... it's a pretty darn cute picture!

Next, she just had to have a snow cone that came in a Jessie cup. Just for laughs, guess how much that frozen water in a cup cost...

$10.00, and after 2 bites she declared that she didn't want anymore. Go figure.

At this point, we hadn't even been in the building for ten minutes. If you average that out, I was dropping about $2.80 a minute. If I was going to keep going at that rate, this outing was going to cost us $288. So, in an effort to not have to dip into Piper's college fund, I figured that it was time to find our seats.

The show was actually really good, and Piper was absolutely enthralled. Which made every penny spent worth it!

When they announced intermission I knew it was time to wander back out into the sea of $10 cups...

Being the push over parents that we are when Piper insisted that she needed some cotton candy we gladly obliged.

Cotton candy = $10

But, at least it came with a hat "for free", right?

We actually made it out of there without dropping anymore more $$$. But then we proceeded to eat dinner at Piper's favorite type of restaurant, which she refers to as the "chop chop restaurant" aka hibachi style restaurant.

Piper is a PICKY eater to put it mildly. Usually she seems to sustain life off of oxygen and crackers only. But amazingly, at these type of restaurants she will eat, and eat, and eat, everything they put on her plate. I guess the whole "chop, chop" show gets her distracted and she forgets she doesn't like to eat.

Regardless the highlight of the dinner was when the chef jokingly referred to me as Mike's "baby mama."

Piper quickly interrupted and informed him that I was a "big girl mama" NOT a "baby mama."

Anyway, we had a much needed, awesome night out! And even though we are now the proud owners of some ridiculously overpriced "Toy Story" gear.... seeing how much she enjoyed the show and how excited she was is absolutely priceless!

(that was like a really long winded MasterCard commercial wasn't it)
