Finally, a new post!!!

I am a bad, bad, bad blogger, but school, work and kids just didn't leave much time for blogging in the past few months. But since I'm on summer break from school, I thought I'd pick up the habit again.

So, here is what we've been up to in the past few weeks...

We made "monster shirts"... I think both Piper and Kipton's very accurately  display their personalities! I bought these iron on kits at Hobby Lobby that allow you to customize your own "monster." Very cute!!!

Kipton was running through the house protesting having his picture made... remember the bit I said about the monster reflecting their personalities???

We made "Heart Crayons" out of our old broken crayons, which if you have kids you know there is always an abundance of broken crayons, we find them everywhere.... literally.  How could you forget this post?  The crayon's were an awesome idea that I got off of the "pinterest" website (which I'm now totally obsessed with).

I think they turned out really cute. Piper loves coloring with them because "they color ALL different colors at one time!" Plus, she has given them as "I love you" gifts to friends and family. So it's a win/win situation because I've gotten rid of a bucket of broken crayons!

We also had a tie dye day where Piper dyed a shirt and some panties. But, unfortunately I was too busy trying to prevent Piper from tie dying everything within a one mile radius of our house so I didn't get any pictures. But, the project was a success and then to keep with the theme we went to eat at "Mellow Mushroom" that night and she wore her shirt.

Today, we made "homemade" ice cream which proved to be an interesting (and messy) adventure.

Mixing all of the ingredients

Watching the mixture turn into ice cream! Kipton had a few taste tests by dipping his fingers into the ice cream as it was mixing....

.... and this is the expression you will get when you no longer let him stick his fingers in the bowl while it's mixing. Not happy!

Taste testing...

And... it's a success! Only Kipton decided that he would rather eat his directly off the table instead of out of the bowl.

Hopefully I'll be able to continue to post through the summer.... so stay tuned!!!

Breakfast... time well spent with the kids... in theory..

I am hijacking Erin's blog today to tell you a tale of two breakfasts....  You see,  this morning I woke up with the greatest intentions of making waffles with the kids...  not lame dad version 1.0 by just opening a box of eggos and firing up the toaster...  but actually doing the whole waffle batter mix and waffle iron route...   From time to time I get delusional about what an awesome parent I can be.. and I figured Piper would get a kick out of it and have some fun with the process...   Of course as it would involve food, or rather more importantly - food with syrup on it,  Kipton would be down with that idea right out of the gate too...  wins all the way around....  (again.. delusions)...
So we started up by gathering all the necessary elements....  batter mix, waffle iron,
measuring cup, oil... and of course Kipton grabbed a box of Uncle Ben's boil in a bag rice out of the pantry which he carried around for the rest of the morning.. ..

and then it was on...  Piper was the most diligent chef of course.. she mixed and poured and stirred and mixed some more.. all the while Kipton stood transfixed watching big sister toil away...  They were adorable until Kipton snatched the measuring cup from the table and made a break for it.. (leaving Uncle Ben behind)..   I had to use soft empty hand control to disarm big sister of her large plastic kitchen spoon before she attempted to bludgeon little brother for the misdemeanor theft of a kitchen utensil..  (that would have most asssuredly violated her probation from her recent tagging incident.. which I will have to explain at another time)...   Anyway, after the mini riot was quieted and the scene was back under control we poured the first waffles into the iron...

It has been a while since I used this thing and obviously I did not pour enough batter into it as the first waffles came out with square holes all the way through...  they looked like lightly toasted window frames...  Piper was not pleased and immediately announced those did not look like REAL waffles....  So I fed them to Kipton... I am most confident that my male child would eat rocks if I were to put syrup on them.. appearance, texture or smell have no bearing on his appetite.. as long as it tastes good...   So he sat contentedly stuffing fistfull after fistfull of my Sunday morning "holy" waffles into his gullet while big sister sat somewhat irritated...    Once batch two was ready to come out of the iron I had issues with opening the damned thing...  Turns out I didn't spray the surface with the non stick spray again after the first batch was done..  So batch two came out nice and thick, but looked like they had been chewed on already....    The food critic was more displeased with this result than she was with the ventilated waffles I had just made minutes earlier....   So, these were a no go as well....   and actually I was so irritated at this point I fed part of that batch to Kipton... because his tray was empty so he had either hidden his first batch down in the high chair..  ( meaning they were probably stuck to the seat of his fleece pajamas ).... or he had already inhaled them... The other half of this new batch went flying out the back door to the dogs...  so at least they were pleased..

So I finally got my act together and got batch 3 right on the money... proud of my accomplishment I turned to Piper only to be told  after a good thirty minutes of culinary trial and error that what she had really wanted was cereal.............................. cereal  !?!?!?!?    ........  Apple Jacks to be exact......

.......At the moment I have two fat worthless dogs on my back porch that had what at least they would consider a very satisfying breakfast of hot buttered waffles...   I believe I will retire my cooking intentions for a few more weeks and go back to lame dad breakfasts of either Pilsbury cinnamon rolls out of a compressed can.. or things I can simply stuff into a toaster...  or maybe even just Apple Jacks..  as Piper seems quite content with those at the moment...

Dinner at the Fisher house

As many of you know Piper is not big on eating. Some days I think she survives on air alone. Not only does she not like to eat, but when she does she is VERY picky. Tonight, Mike was able to get a few photos of the fiasco of trying to get Piper to eat.

On the menu tonight was pork tenderloin and bruschetta topped bread... most people would have been delighted to have such a dinner. But, not Piper.......

The beginning of the duel...

Full on WAR at this point

 Glimmer of hope

Success!!!! One minuscule piece of food down!

Happy 1st Birthday to Kipton!

Yes, I realize that I have become a totally slacker in the blogging department. I've been completely consumed with school, work and kids lately. So, over my Christmas break, I hope to catch everyone up on all the happenings of the Fisher clan, but for right now I just wanted to share some pictures and a video for Kipton's birthday...

I can't believe that my little baby is already one!!!! This past year has flown by.... and now I officially don't have any more "babies."

Kipton has been walking now for about a month, and each day that goes by he seems to walk more and crawl less. I think he's just trying to keep up with Piper.

We had a small little party for him Sunday. I think Piper and her friend Harper (my partner from work Nicole's little girl) were more interested in opening all of the presents then Kipton was, he was just excited that so many people where here, and kept toddling around to visit everyone.

In the past I have made video's for Piper's birthdays, so keeping with tradition, I made this video detailing Kipton's first year and showed it at the party....

You should take a second to  watch it, I think it's pretty great, but then again I'm a little biased.

Hope all is well with everyone, and hopefully soon I'll be able to catch everyone up on all the happenings of our crew.

There's no place like home.... There's no place like home....

Well, Happy Halloween.... a week late.

Sorry about the lack of blogging recently. I have been completely consumed with school the past few weeks. This past week I came up for air, and escaped reality by becoming "Glenda the Good Witch."

Originally, the plan was for me to be "The Wicked Witch of the West", but then Piper decided that she didn't want me to melt, so she opted for me to be Glenda. I guess that's better than the "flying monkey," right?

Anyway, the Fisher clan had a great time morphing into "The Wizard of Oz clan".

Piper was so excited about trick or treating that I think she asked no less than 1 million times if "it was time to go yet?" Once we were literally heading out the door to trick or treat that's when "IT" happened....

Literally the FIRST trick or treater that came to our house was dressed in a scary clown costume and Piper was terrified.

Not just scared....... TERRIFIED.

She climbed the stairs in the house faster than I have EVER seen them climbed, ran to her room and refused to come out.  The same child that had been looking forward to trick or treating all day long, now was adamant that she DID NOT want to go and was hyperventilating in her room. At this point, she was stuck in terrorville, and her little ruby red slippers weren't going to save her.

After 45 minutes of negotiations and coaxing we were able to get her out of her room. Another 30 minutes later we were able to get her to go to the neighbors house.... and thankfully it progressed from there.

Now, skip forward about an hour. We had made it around the block and Piper was having a blast! Mike and I on the other hand had our heads on a constant swivel on the look out for "scary costumes" so that Piper wouldn't have a melt down blocks away from the house.

All was good until "IT" happened again...

Piper walked up to the front door of a house who's lights were on but door was closed. Like the
'big girl" she is she insisted on ringing the bell by herself as Mike and I stood off the porch in the front yard.

She eagerly was awaiting for the door to open and when it did, there stood a grown man dressed in a head to toe "scary clown" costume.

In one motion Piper screamed as if she was about to die, levitated off the porch 3 feet, threw her candy basket into the air, and jumped completely off the front porch and into my arms.

I don't know who was more startled.... Piper or the man in the clown costume who's wife was berating him to "take of the mask!!!"

I know we shouldn't have.... but Mike and I were in tears laughing so hard.

Once the man was able to get his mask off and Piper could see that it was indeed just a costume, all was right with the world. I'm sure the fact that the couple filled her candy basket up because they felt so bad helped a little also.

We spent the next few minutes picking up her candy that was covering the whole front porch as the "scary clown man" and his wife apologized over and over.

Piper, by this time was a little shaken, but one stupid clown was not going to ruin her chances of getting more loot, so we continued on and with the click of her heals, we were able to make it home.

MTSU Homecoming

This past weekend was mine and Mike's 5th year anniversary so, I took the weekend off of work. It also happened to be the weekend of MTSU's Homecoming so, it worked out perfect.

We started out the day going to the Homecoming parade which both of the kids LOVED and Piper got enough candy thrown to her during the parade that there is no need to even go trick-or-treating.

After the parade we headed over to tailgate with friends from the past. And then we went to the game. My supervisor from work was working on the ambulance down on the field and offered to take Piper to meet the cheerleaders and the mascot lightning.

I guess just meeting the dancers wasn't enough... she decided that she needed in on the action.

Kipton's world

Kipton is growing so fast. I feel like I blinked and he changed from an newborn to crawling, climbing, full of energy little baby boy. I'm sure it won't be long before he is walking. He's been standing without holding onto anything for the past few weeks, so it's only a matter of time before the munchkin is running.

But, for now, his newest thing is climbing. He's been climbing the stairs for awhile now, but he's mastered them so I guess he figured climbing onto a table was the next logical choice.

I was cleaning downstairs the other day and walked into the kitchen to find him like this...

He was just hanging out on top of the table happy as could be. No intentions of even getting down, he just wanted to chill on the table. Rascal!

How exactly he got up there, I'm not sure. But, I assume that he climbed into the chair and then onto the table.

In other news, I styled Kipton's hair the other day... you like it?

I'm sure Mike hates its.... but it was fun for the day.

Sneak Peek

We had family photos done this past weekend. It was quite the undertaking to get two kids to willingly participate in the photos, but I think that we will end up with a few good ones.

This is the one that the photographer posted as a sneak peek....

I love it and can't wait to see the rest of them!

Anyone need computer lessons?

Because I have a 3 year old that is amazingly knowledgeable on them.  I think Piper knows how to work my computer better then I do.

As you know, I have a Mac computer. For all of you PC users out there, all Mac computers come with a feature called "photo booth". It basically just allows you to do fun effects...  but some of the effects are distortion effects...

Anyway, I was working on my computer the other day while Piper was playing. I had to walk out of the room for something, but just left my laptop up and running.

When I came back a few minutes later I found Piper busy at work on my computer playing with photo booth. Here is the result of some of her work.

Remember when I talked about the distortion effects? Well those are obviously some of Piper's favorites. She thinks all of these pictures are hilarious.... and well, I'm not gonna argue with her.

So, we were playing with the photo booth feature today, and I captured this great video of Piper singing her favorite song from "Wizard of Oz". Click here to view the video

Sorry boys, but she's taken.

Piper's in love.

His name is Bryson and they are inseparable. He is our neighbors', Wendy and Chasity, nephew. And whenever he comes to visit them Piper and him play together.

Piper is so comsumed with everything that relates to Bryson. She worries what he will think about her outfit and if he will think she is pretty. When he got a "boo boo" she was so concerned about him feeling better, and even kissed his scraped knee to help him feel better.

They even shared their first "real kiss" as Piper called it. (on the cheek)

So, here's to my future son in law..... he's a cutie isn't he!
